About the programme

The systems layer that every organisation depends on

Every organisation now runs on systems it does not fully understand. Networks, cloud services, enterprise platforms, and the security and governance wrapped around them. DIS is the diploma for people who want to be the one who does understand.

The programme builds expertise in digital transformation, cybersecurity, networking, cloud technologies, IT governance and enterprise systems. It deliberately spans both the technical layer and the governance layer, because in practice the two cannot be separated — a secure system with no policy behind it fails just as surely as a policy with no system.

Technology fails less often than the governance around it. DIS teaches both, because in practice you inherit both.

It suits IT staff who want structure and recognition behind skills they already have, people moving into cybersecurity or cloud work, and non-technical staff who need to hold their own alongside technical teams.

Who this diploma is for

  • Non-technical professionals who need to work credibly alongside technical teams
  • Anyone responsible for systems, data or compliance in their organisation
What you'll study

Eight modules, from fundamentals to a systems project

DIS moves from how systems work, to how they are secured, to how they are governed — then asks you to put the three together.

01

Information Systems Fundamentals

How information systems are structured, how data moves through an organisation, and the vocabulary the field runs on.

02

Networking Essentials

How networks are built and addressed, what breaks them, and how to reason about a connection that is not working.

03

Cybersecurity Foundations

Threats, attack surfaces, access control and defence in depth — the practical security posture of an organisation.

04

Cloud Technologies

Service models, deployment models, and what genuinely changes when infrastructure stops being something you own.

05

Enterprise Systems & Data

The platforms organisations run on, how they integrate, and how data is stored, moved and kept trustworthy.

06

IT Governance, Risk & Compliance

Policy, standards, risk assessment and audit — how technology decisions are justified and held to account.

07

Digital Transformation in Practice

Why transformation programmes fail, and what it takes to change how an organisation actually works.

08

Capstone: A Systems Project

You scope, design and present a systems solution to a real organisational problem. The programme's final assessment.

Note: module titles and sequencing are confirmed each semester by the academic team. Facilitators are working practitioners, so content is refreshed to reflect current industry practice.
Where it takes you

From supporting systems to being trusted with them

DIS is assessed on applied understanding — you should be able to explain a system, secure it, and justify the decisions you made about it.

By the end you'll be able to

Skills you walk away with

  • Explain how an organisation's core systems fit together and where the risks sit
  • Diagnose and reason about common network and connectivity problems
  • Apply security controls appropriate to a given system and threat
  • Evaluate cloud options against an organisation's actual requirements
  • Apply governance, risk and compliance frameworks to technology decisions
  • Scope and present a systems project a decision-maker would fund
